Body Contouring LipoSculpture

Vaser Assisted Liposculpture utilizes ultrasonic energy to break up unwanted fat deposits. The use of Ultrasonic Assisted Liposuction (UAL) allows safer removal of larger amounts of fat than with standard liposuction or laser liposuction. This increase in safety is due to the reduced amount of blood removed with UAL. This means that UAL can be very useful to moderately overweight individuals even though UAL is not a weight loss method per se.

How Does Vaser Liposuction Work?

Vaser liposuction utilises ultrasonic technology to melt fat. Unlike the standard form of ultrasonic liposuction, however, vaser lipo is conducted on a much smaller scale. This makes it much more precise and eliminates the need for the patient to be unconscious during the procedure.. After the fat has been melted by the ultrasonic device it is removed from the body using a very small, very precise cannula (suction device). Essentially it does for ultrasonic liposuction what smart liposuction does for laser liposuction, but vaser lipo is capable of removing more fat than smart lipo.

The advantages of vaser assisted liposuction over standard liposuction procedures are obvious. Only a local anaesthetic is used, so the risks and post-operative discomfort are greatly decreased. Vaser liposuction being called 'walk in, walk out' surgery because you can be back at home within hours of undergoing the procedure and back to work the next day. These advantages are also true of smart liposuction, however vaser liposuction is capable of removing larger amounts of fat and will leave blood vessels undamaged, reducing bruising, swelling and post-operative discomfort even further. Because vaser lipo is such a quick and easy procedure, it is also much cheaper than traditional liposuction techniques.

Smartlipo® by Cynosure was the first FDA approved laser system for laser lipolysis in November 2006, but has been used world wide for 8 years prior. Because our practice believes in providing only the very best treatments for our patients, we have chosen the most state of the art version called Smartlipo MPX®, the first and only FDA approved dual wavelength laser lipolysis workstation available. This newest generation system allows the physician to use the 1064 nm and the 1320 nm wavelengths individually and sequentially in a 'blended fashion' using MultiPlex (MPX) technology for optimal results, and safety. Each of these wavelengths brings unique characteristics to the laser lipolysis procedure. One is better suited for liquefying fat and coagulating tissue and blood vessels and the other is more aggressive and suited for targeting skin tightening. By 'blending' these wavelengths with the MPX system, you can benefit from both wavelengths more effectively than with either wavelength alone. Multiplexing the two wavelengths provides more even, uniform delivery of laser energy to maximize the effectiveness and safety of the treatment, decreases the time of the treatments, allows larger areas to be treated, and helps induce skin tightening, and optimizes overall patient outcomes and satisfaction. Also, we use the SmartSense® handpiece, an intelligent delivery system which regulates the laser output from Smartlipo MPX® and enhances safety and uniformity of energy delivery.
