Derma Genesis Microdermabrasion

Good skin starts at the cellular level, and Microdermabrasion is arguably one of the most popular, time-proven methods of consistent skin care that dramatically improve skin tone and texture...even after just one treatment! Microdermabrasion is used to treat a variety of skin conditions including acne, stretch marks, acne scars, age spots, enlarged pores, wrinkles, or rosacea and that's just the beginning. Simply put: Microdermabrasion is one of the most effective ways to maintain healthy skin that feels as good as it looks. For those struggling with mild to moderate acne, Microdermabrasion can be a monthly preventative treatment that is worth every penny. If you're noticing premature signs of aging such as skin discoloration and sun damage, Microdermabrasion is a preferred way to gently buff away dry and damaged skin. Or, if you are otherwise happy with the condition of your skin, but are looking for a monthly "refresher," Microderm offers a winning combination -The rejuvenating benefits of a facial, along with the renewing qualities of a deep facial scrub.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels use a chemical solution to improve and smooth the texture of the facial skin by removing its damaged outer layers. It is helpful for those individuals with facial blemishes, wrinkles and uneven skin pigmentation. The peels Dr. Palumbo's office uses are: Fruit Acid Peels, Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA), Obagi Blue Peel, Refinity Peel, and Salicylic Peel.

Fruit Acid Peels

Fruit Acid Peels, such as glycolic and lactic are the mildest of the peel formulas and produce light peels. These types of peels can provide smoother, brighter-looking skin for people who can't spare the time to recover from a phenol or TCA peel. These peels may be used to treat fine wrinkling, areas of dryness, uneven pigmentation and acne. Fruit acid peels:
  • Smoothes rough, dry skin
  • Improves texture of sun-damaged skin
  • Aid in acne control
  • Can be mixed with bleaching agent to correct pigment problems
  • Can be used as TCA pre-treatment
  • A series of peels may be needed
  • As with most peel treatments, sunblock use is recommended

Refinity Peel

  • Lighter peel for superficial skin improvements
  • A fruit acid peel using 70% strength glycolic acid
  • Improves hyper-pigmentation problems
  • Stimulates Collagen production
  • Exfoliates the dead skin cells on the surface of skin
  • Refines, tones and reduces the appearance of dull skin
  • Leaves the skin glowing and youthful

  • - There may be some pinkness to the skin right after treatment
  • - Patients can usually return to work or other activities right away

  • - 4-6 treatment for maximum results.
  • - Treatments take half an hour
  • - There may be some pinkish to the skin right after treatment
  • - Patients may return to work/activities right away

Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA)

Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA) can be used in many concentrations, but it is most commonly used for medium-depth peeling. Fraxel Restore Laser

How It Works

The Fraxel Restore laser utilizes a new technology called Fractional Resurfacing. With Fractional Resurfacing Technology, only a fraction of the skin receives the laser light. The laser delivers a series of microscopic closely spaced laser spots to the skin while simultaneously preserving normal healthy skin between the laser spots. This preservation of healthy skin results in rapid healing following the laser treatment. The entire face can be treated with the laser in approximately 30 minutes.

Results

After Fraxel Restore laser treatment, fine lines and wrinkles are improved, skin texture is much smoother, and skin crepiness is reduced. In addition, brown spots are lessened and the skin color becomes more even and uniform. Acne scars and any other scars are also improved. Treatments with the Fraxel Restore laser have no recovery downtime. There is no need for pain medicine after the treatment, as any discomfort from the procedure is minimal. Patients can return to work immediately after their treatment or the next day. Optimum results are generally achieved by a series of 4 to 5 treatment sessions spaced three to four weeks apart.
